Credico is a well-known global outsourced sales company. With offices in Canada, the United States, United Kingdom, and South Africa, Credico shares the success of this great organization with our team. We are fortunate to be comprised of an impressive, dedicated, capable team of deeply committed, skilled, and inspiring people who choose to lend their talents to our purpose every day. Like most Employee Spotlight campaigns, the goal is to highlight a team member for who they are and what they do. However, our goal is a little different; we’d like to share the global stage with people who call Credico their work home.
Our next featured employee is Machaela DeSano, Account Manager at Credico (USA) LLC. She tells us about the joys of in-person connections, maintaining a work-life balance, and lifelong friendships near and far.
What do you do at our company?
I work in the Client Services department as an Account Manager.
What brought you to want to work at Credico?
When I moved to Chicago in 2022, I had a remote position and quickly realized I wasn’t meeting any new people in this beautiful city! A few months into living here, I submitted a job application for Credico, and here I am, coming up on my two-year anniversary.
How long have you worked at Credico?
It will be two years on October 4th.
What has been your favorite project so far?
My most recent telecom campaign, 100%! When I started as a new employee, it was a fairly new and small campaign, and I grew right along with it. The client team is truly one of a kind. If you’ve seen the t-shirts with our client representative’s face on them or have ever had the pleasure of speaking with our client team, you get it!
Can you take us through a day in the life for you at Credico?
The most enjoyable days are those spent in the office, starting with my quick 6-minute scooter commute. My days are typically filled with client meetings discussing various project needs. I especially enjoy our weekly campaign calls and client meetings, as they provide a great opportunity to connect face-to-face and build stronger relationships with those I typically interact with virtually.
But the BEST parts are hanging out with fellow co-workers, whether grabbing free soda on the 3rd floor, having lunch together, doing a puzzle at the CS Guest Desk, coffee runs, and visiting the park and happy hour across the street. I just like having fun with my work pals.
What do you like most about working at Credico?
The best part about my job is the people, for sure. I’ve truly been blessed to meet people I believe will become lifelong friendships, which was exactly what I was looking for and needed after moving to a new city.
What would you like to ask our CEO?
What career or life advice would you offer someone in the first decade of their professional career?
Can you share the best career or life advice you’ve received?
This might be cliché, but I’ve learned the importance of separating work and personal emotions. No matter how stressful my day has been, I try to leave work at work. I don’t want to worry about emails, tasks, or any work-related matters after hours, so I can truly enjoy and be in the moment with everything happening in my personal life after work. I was not so good at doing that at my previous employment, so it was one of my goals when I started at Credico, which they make easy since they support work-life balance. At the end of the day, YOU matter most!
How do you spend your time when you’re not working?
Some of my co-workers think it is hilarious that I often travel to the suburbs on the weekend, even though I live in a big city with so much going on. Now that I’m here, I’m itching to go apple picking in Wisconsin or Indiana ASAP!
I love reading, spending time at the beach, and getting a tan during summer. I have a cat I love spending time with. But I also love trying new restaurants and doing everything under the sun with my fiancé, which almost always includes shopping at Costco or Trader Joe’s every weekend because I am literally obsessed. Of course, spending time with my cat is the best part of my weekend.
If you could have dinner with anyone (and we mean anyone), who would it be and why?
I would want to have dinner with my two best friends, whom I haven’t seen in a long time. Long-distance friendships are tough, and to me, being with them is worth more than eating dinner with anyone else.
