In February, team members from Credico (USA) LLC attended the 2024 Black Creativity Gala as sponsors of the Juried Art Exhibition. This annual event showcasing Black creatives and their contributions to society gathers artists, supporters, business leaders, dignitaries, and creatives of all kinds in celebration of Black excellence while supporting the Black Creativity program at Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry (MSI).
Over 800 guests were welcomed with a cocktail reception and live music, followed by inspiring speeches, a gourmet meal and dessert bar, and a first look through the Juried Art Exhibition. And of course, there was a fantastic DJ presiding over a spirited dance floor as well!
In addition to being a delightful opportunity to support MSI’s Black Creativity programs, the Gala was also a wonderful opportunity to mingle with colleagues outside of work, as well as network with leaders from other local businesses and organizations. Everything about the event was spectacular, from first impressions down to the small details – a fantastic celebration of a the longest continuously-running exhibition of African American art in the United States.
“It is very meaningful that Credico sponsored the Black Creativity Gala,” noted Christine Aceron, Vice President of Strategy and Operations at Credico. “This was an uplifting, fun event to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of Black innovation and artistic vision. I am excited for the lasting impact. One of the main goals of the Black Creativity program at MSI is to provide exposure for African American youth to opportunities in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM).”
The mission of MSI’s Black Creativity program is to showcase the careers, educational pathways, and other opportunities in science, technology, engineering, art, and math that are available to Black youth while increasing their access to MSI and its resources, deepening their engagement with STEAM via hands-on learning, and presenting Black contributions to these fields as inspiring examples to follow. Black Creativity programs and exhibits reach over 10,000 students, teachers, and families in underserved Chicago neighborhoods each year.
In total, over $690,000 was raised in support of MSI’s Black Creativity programs at this year’s Black Creativity Gala, and Credico could not be prouder to be able to contribute in our own small way.
The Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition runs through April 21, 2024 at MSI, included with museum entry. There will also be a booth featuring the work of select artists at EXPO CHICAGO 2024, April 11-14 at Navy Pier.
